Dave Campbell's Texas Football 2024
Here is what the 2024 edition of
Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine has to
say about the 2024 Pirates:
Coach: Jeff Luna.
Lettermen: R/L: 21/11. Starters returning O/D: 4/6. 2023: 12-2
region finalist/6-0 district.
Players to watch: LB
Tobyn Noll, WR/RB/DB
Colin Ramzinski, OL/DL
Jared Padilla, OL/DL
Daniel Weidner, WR/LB Nate Kopecki,
OL/LB Larson Dzuik. Top Juniors:
QB
Major Luna, WR/DB Antonio DeHoyos. Other Prospects: RB/DB
Kane Stover.
2024 notes: Padilla (61
tackles, 6 TFL, 2.5 sacks) is a three-way starter on both sides of the ball.
Weidner (59 tackles, 2 TFL) is another two-way
starter returning. LB Noll and DB
Ramzinski combined for nearly 400 tackles on a
defense that held opponents in single digits in 11 games. The offense will get a
boost from the return of QB Luna, who missed
all of last season with an injury.
The magazine's predictions for District 15-3A DII:
Preseason offensive MVP: RB Bubba Reyes, Dilley
Preseason defensive MVP: LB
Tobyn Noll, Poth
District 15-3A DII finish:
1. Poth (287 students)
2. Cotulla (351.5 students)
3. Dilley (267 students)
4. San Antonio YMLA (244 students)
5. Stockdale (274 students)
6. Natalia (345 students)
7. Nixon-Smiley (287 students)
8. Karnes City (315 students)
Preseason rankings for Class 3A Division II lists
Poth at number 5 ("The line play will be
outstanding, and a 10-0 JV is on the way."). The rankings for the top ten teams
are:
1. Gunter
2. Daingerfield
3. Newton
4. Canadian
5. Poth
6. Jacksboro
7. Lexington
8. Holliday
9. Wall
10. Tidehaven
Poth's DB Colin Ramzinski is predicted to
be selected as an All State player.
New district 15-3A opponent Cotulla is listed as a dark horse ("Dropping
down to Division II should help the Cowboys, who took their lumps with a very,
very young team in 2023.").

Definitely take this simulation with a large grain of salt.)
